This paper examines the advantages and disadvantages of ETFs compared to index funds when investing in the German funds market. It examines total and average return, volatility and tracking error of ETFs versus index funds tracking the DAX. Also a regression analysis is done in order to draw conclusion on the funds’ alpha, beta and coefficient determinant.
It can be concluded that the hypothesis of whether ETFs are a cost-efficient way for institutional investors to invest in the DAX stands and evidence is provided. Results indicate that ETFs achieve higher average returns and less average volatili-ty. In addition, ETFs pursue a better full replication strategy than index funds. As a result, the tracking error for ETFs is lower than the index funds’.
2Introduction
Some studies have revealed that institutional investors put less emphasis on trading through stock exchange but prefer to directly create and redeem ex-change traded funds. An exchange-traded fund is a type of investment product that represent basket of securities such as the DAX index and are made available only through brokers and advisors.
It was in 1993, that the American Stock Exchange launched the Spiders, SPDR to track the S&P 500. It was the first exchange traded product on markets with more coming later on. Diamonds was launched in 1998 which tracked the Dow Jones in industrial average and Cubes in 1999, which tracked the NASDAQ 100
But it was the mutual funds that were the most popular with institutional and private investors both for quite some time. This trend however is only now beginning to change as institutions find that ETFs can help attain a variety of goals that many other investment vehicles simply cannot provide. A recent survey from Greenwich Associates (carried out in 2010) that polled 70 investment firms revealed that ETF use is rising sharply. Robbins argues that by using a new technique called neurolinguistic programming (NLP) anyone can become successful at almost anything. NLP teaches us how to communicate success to ourselves. One of the best ways to do this is to model ourselves on people who are successful: Think, act, and speak like a success and you are on the way to being one. Despite much helpful material (even regarding nutrition), this book scarcely acknowledges the limitations that exist in people's lives. Of course, the whole thrust of NLP is to learn to focus on one's power and not on one's limits. But the text is too wordyit reads like a transcript of a series of talksand it also needs more structure and organization. Not as self helpy as you might think

I was initially skeptical of this book when I downloaded it. I generally don't like self help and think it to be mostly fluff when it needs to be substance.

I was wrong.

Sure, there are stories in here you can skim over when you are tired and still get the gist of the book. But much of the value of this book and the good self help out there is to put into words and reinforce things you already kind of knew, but needed to have said to you. NLP seems kitschy at first but has some usefulness. Modeling seems intuitive but so few people do it. Knowing you actually need to act is something many people say they understand, but very few actually carry out.

I picked up this book during a particularly tumultuous month in my life and am glad I did so. It was one of the little reminders I needed that some people have life happen to them and some people happen to life. I would recommend picking this book up.

Felt like a long infomercial and I got tired of the ...

I am a huge fan but this book just drags and seems to just keep promising of things to come ..... so you keep reading about what you are GOING to learn later --- but my patience ran out. Felt like a long infomercial and I got tired of the lead up with nothing to actually sink my teeth in.

What can I say about this book that hasn't been said before. Tony Robbins is not a motivational guru as some people believe him to be. He is a transformational coach a strategic interventionist and as a result of reading his books, attending his "Unleash the Power within" seminar I have been able to accomplish many of the goals that I had for myself – in spite of my fears.

If you haven't read Unlimited Power… You're in for a treat. I purchased it again after reading it years ago and I'm seeing things now (as I'm reading it) that I didn't see before because, I am a different person than I was 10 years ago.

I also repurchased his other FANTASTIC book "Awaken the Giant within" purchase both these books, purchased his "Get the Edge" CD course and if you can attend his Unleash the Power within seminar – and your life will never be the same again.
