Jeni Wright is a freelance food writer and the author of more than twenty cookery books, including The Encyclopedia of Italian Cooking, Easy Italian Cookery, and The Italian Ingredients Cookbook. She has written many articles on food for magazines. Jeni works from home in London, where she lives with her husband and two children.

Great Book!

This is just the book I wanted. Being as there were no reveiws, I wasn't sure, but decided to take a chance and order.
All the pasta meals I've ever made, I bought the box of pasta at the store. But now I want to make the pasta from scratch, and I wanted a book that shows how to do this.
This book is about 9 by 11 1/2, it has large color pictures, pictures of all the different types of pasta, with information about them, it shows all that one needs to begin making pasta. It has step by step pictured instructions on cooking and serving different types of pasta. It has step by step pictured instructions on making pasta from scratch. It has step by step pictured instructions on making pasta using a pasta machine, which is what I wanted, because I just bought a pasta machine.
It also has some recipes that sound pretty good, but I haven't tried any yet. It has sauce recipes, like fresh tomato sauce, and alfredo, there is info on herbs and spices and cheeses and so on.
All in all, I think its a very good book for someone like me who is starting from the beginning, the pictured instructions are great.
If someone already knows the basics of making pasta, then they may not be so thrilled with it, but with this book and Alton Brown's Good Eats episode of "Use Your Noodle", I think I'm already to begin making pasta.

Good Book to Start With

As a previous reviewer wrote, this is a good book for beginners. It covers the basic types and shapes of pasta, equipment needed for preparation, and a small section (12 pages out of 124) on making homemade pasta. About half of the book is devoted to recipes for cooking and serving pasta and there is one page on pairing pastas with wines. The book did include a number of pasta types and flavors not usually found in the average US book on pasta but that may have been because it is published by a London firm.
If you are looking for a book on making homemade pasta I recommend "Making Artisan Pasta: How to Make a World of Handmade Noodles, Stuffed Pasta, Dumplings, and More", by Aliza Green.
In summary, I would recommend this book to an inexperienced cook as a good place to start.

I love this book....a total primer about pasta with delicious recipes. I made the spinach ravioli yesterday and they were divine!
